Setting Up Customer Upload Links

Generate shareable links so customers can upload STL, G-code, and PDF files directly to your account.

Upload links let your customers send you files without needing a Printforge account. Share a link, and they can drag-and-drop STL, G-code, or PDF files directly into your inbox.

From the quote request or client portal, you can generate shareable upload links. Each link has configurable settings:

  • Allowed file types — STL, G-code, 3MF, STEP, OBJ, and/or PDF
  • Expiry — links can expire after a set number of days
  • Max uploads — limit the number of files per link

What Customers See

When a customer opens the link, they see a simple upload page with your Printforge branding. They can drag and drop files or click to browse. No login required. They can also add a message describing what they need.

Receiving Files

Uploaded files appear in your quote requests. You'll see the customer's name, their message, and all attached files. From there, you can download the files, run them through the calculator, and create a quote.

File Validation

Printforge validates uploaded files using magic byte detection — it checks the actual file content, not just the extension. This prevents invalid or malicious files from being uploaded. Supported formats: STL (binary and ASCII), G-code, 3MF, STEP, OBJ, and PDF.
