Labels, tags and scannable plaques

Create printable text plates, labels and QR plaques

The Text Plate & QR Maker turns words or a web address into measured print geometry. Choose a blank, lay out straight or curved lettering, or build a QR plaque with a module size checked against the selected nozzle. Raised and engraved designs export as STL, while two-colour inlays keep their bodies assigned in a 3MF.

What the Text plate and QR maker handles

Text that follows the plate

Use straight or arced text, adjust spacing and choose the blank dimensions while the generator lays out the actual letter geometry rather than applying a visual-only label.

QR sizing tied to print resolution

The generator checks QR module size against nozzle width and refuses a plaque that falls below its printability floor instead of exporting a code that is unlikely to scan.

Pick the right relief

Raised, engraved and two-colour inlay treatments support different production goals. The delivered file format follows the selected construction, including separate colour bodies for an inlay.

From source to printable model

  1. 1

    Choose text or QR

Enter the label, name, short instruction or destination address that should become physical geometry.

  2. 2

    Lay out the plate

Set the blank, dimensions, type treatment, depth, margins and mounting details while checking the live result.

  3. 3

    Validate at print scale

Confirm small text and QR modules remain practical for the nozzle, then export the correct STL or 3MF.

Useful for

  • Machine labels and workshop identification plates
  • Name tags, desk signs and personalised gifts
  • QR plaques for instructions, menus or product information
  • Two-colour signs designed for filament changes or multi-material printing

Plan the physical result

Treat legibility as a physical constraint. Small lettering needs enough stroke width and relief to survive the nozzle, first layer and viewing distance. If a long label feels crowded, increase the plate or shorten the message instead of reducing the type until it becomes fragile.

A QR symbol also needs contrast and clean modules after printing. Use a short, stable destination where possible, select an appropriate error-correction level and test the finished part with several phones before producing a batch. The digital preview cannot account for every filament and surface finish.

Frequently asked questions

Can the generator make curved text?

Yes. Text can follow an arc, with spacing calculated along the curve so letters do not simply fan out in equal angular slices.

How does it keep a QR code printable?

The tool compares each QR module with the selected nozzle width and blocks sizes below its reliability floor. You should still scan a physical test before making a batch.

When do I receive a 3MF instead of an STL?

A two-colour inlay is exported as a 3MF with separate colour bodies. Raised and engraved single-material plates are exported as STL files.
