Layered art is strongest when the source has deliberate colour regions and a clear subject. Fine gradients, noise and many near-identical colours create bands that add production work without improving the result. Reduce the palette until every remaining colour contributes something visible at print size.
The stack order affects both appearance and filament-change sequence. Check the side view as well as the front, confirm the finished thickness suits the intended mounting method and compare the generated palette with real filament before promising an exact colour match.

Not necessarily. The bands are organised by height, so they can be produced with planned filament changes. An automatic system can make the workflow more convenient when the slicer and printer support it.
Logos, icons and poster-style graphics with clean regions work best. Photographs can work after simplification, but subtle gradients and background texture rarely translate well into a small number of physical layers.
