The Inbox: Contact-Form Leads & File Uploads
Add an embeddable contact form to your website so customers can send you files, then turn each lead into a quote from your inbox.
The Inbox is where enquiries from your website land. Add Printforge's embeddable contact form to your site, and any customer can send you their name, a message, and a 3D file — no account needed. Each submission shows up as a lead in your Inbox, ready to turn into a quote. The Inbox and contact form are available on every plan.
Adding the Form to Your Website
Open the Inbox and, in the Contact form section, click Add to your website. You'll get a ready-made embed code — an iframe plus a small resize script that keeps the form the right height. Steps:
- Click Copy code
- Paste it into your site — in Shopify, a Custom Liquid or Custom HTML section works; on any other site, drop it into a page
- Use Preview form to see exactly what your customers will see
The embed link is unique to your workspace. If you ever need to rotate it, Reset link generates a new one and stops the old embed working — but your existing leads are always kept.
What Customers See
The form is titled "Send us your file". Customers enter their name and email (phone optional), pick what they need help with, add an optional message, and attach a file. Accepted files include STL, STEP, 3MF, OBJ, ZIP, PDF, and images (PNG, JPG, WebP), up to 25MB. After submitting, they see a confirmation and get an email letting them know you've received their file.
How Leads Arrive
Every submission becomes a lead in your Inbox with the customer's name, email, phone, subject, message, and their attached file. New leads start as Pending. When a lead comes in, several things happen automatically:
- A notification appears in Printforge
- The customer gets a "we've received your file" confirmation email
- You get a "new contact form submission" email, with reply-to set to the customer so you can respond directly
- If you've connected Telegram, you get a Telegram ping too
Uploaded files are scanned for threats before a lead is created, and stored privately — you open them through a secure, short-lived link.
Working a Lead
Each lead has actions to move it forward:
- Quote — start a quote for this customer (see below)
- File — open or download their attachment
- Reply — email them back directly
- Customer — save them into your client database
- Delete — remove the submission and its file
You can also set a lead's status — Pending, Reviewed, Quoted, or Dismissed — and filter the list by status to keep on top of what's outstanding.
Turning a Lead into a Quote
Click Quote on a lead to open a new quote pre-filled with the customer's details, their file name, and their message as notes. The lead is marked Quoted so you know it's been actioned. Download the attached file with the File action, run it through the calculator to price it, add your line items, and send the quote — the customer receives it by email.
Tips
- Put the form on a dedicated "Get a quote" or "Upload your file" page so customers know exactly where to send work
- Connect Telegram if you want instant alerts when a lead lands while you're away from the desk
- Use the status filter and the Reviewed status to track leads you've seen but haven't quoted yet
